“I want to pass on the profound teachings of yoga to my students so they benefit not only from the physical effects but the mental and spiritual effects as well. Our yoga practice is not just a practice on the mat but something we can bring into our daily lives.”
Alecia
Alecia began her yoga journey in 2001 in Canada. She’s always been involved in sports, so yoga is her way of restoring and keeping her body balanced, physically and mentally. Her passion for yoga and desire to deepen her practice led her down the road to teaching. She recently completed her 200 hour teacher training certification with Jennifer Allen at Jayayoga, which promotes safe, sustainable yoga for life.
Alecia’s classes will contain a variety of pranayama (breathwork), asana (movement), and meditation (mindfulness) in order to contain a fully nourishing experience.
“Life is busy! I want my students to give themself permission to have ‘guilt free me time’. My goal is for them to leave my class feeling as though their bucket is overflowing – on a physical, emotional and energetic level. “
Takuya is originally from Japan and now based in Gisborne, New Zealand.
Surfing has been a big part of his life, teaching him about flow, balance, and being present.
His yoga journey began with the breath.
After a meniscus injury, it became a way for him to slow down, listen to his body, and move with awareness.
He completed his Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India, at Swasti Yoga Shala, studying under Surinder Singh, and now shares this practice in Gisborne — a place he truly loves.
For him, yoga is more than physical — it is a way to reconnect, slow down, and return to yourself.
His classes are slow and breath-led, focusing on awareness, strength, and inner stillness.
